The large flakes of bright red and orange hematite featured in this beautiful stone are similar to the brightly coloured garments worn by the semi-nomadic Masai tribe of Tanzania, and hence this stone became known as the Masai Sunstone or the Tanzanian Sunstone. The deposit was discovered in 2000 by a young Masai warrior near Arusha in northern Tanzania. Unlike other sunstones from the USA and Sri Lanka, the Masai Sunstone is completely natural and receives no form of colour treatment. The Sunstone is bezel set onto a hand forged, bark textured band and features 3 pieces of handmade solid granulations either side of the stone. The middle granulations are in 9ct gold to highlight and enhance the beautiful colour of the sunstone. This is a one-of-a-kind piece of jewellery. All Omerta Jewellery is presented in a branded gift box tied with matching organza ribbon.
