Product details
Orsoni smalti has been produced in Venice, Italy by Angelo Orsoni since 1888. Smalti was originally developed for use in mosaics created during the time of the Byzantine empire. 24kt gold leaf is covered by a very thin hand-blown piece of crystal and fused into one solid, durable piece of glass in the furnace. Once cooled each "gold plate" is hand-cut and although the gold appears as if it is on the surface of each tessera (mosaic tile), it remains protected, reflecting the gold when the light catches it. During the firing process sometimes patterns emerge in the gold leaf. This unique completely handmade ring features a small piece of Orsoni 24kt gold leaf tessera which has a flower-like pattern within the gold leaf. The tessera has been set in the style of an Ancient Roman ring in sterling silver with handmade silver granulations either side. This truly is an unusual piece of jewellery. All Omerta Jewellery is presented in a branded gift box tied with matching organza ribbon.
